Currently, Shirokuro Tsubasa Scanlations is in need of people to fill in the following positions:

  • Translators (JP/CH)
  • Cleaners
  • Typesetters
  • Proofreaders
  • Quality Checkers
  • Graphic Designers
  • Scanners/Raw Providers
Positions we are in dire need of are bolded and highlighted in red. We need you, so please apply by filling out the form at the end!~
*Editors are both cleaners and typesetters.
    TRANSLATOR
A translator is a person who translates all the foreign text from the raws or scans into English, laid out as a script. All dialogue, thoughts and SFX are to be translated. If you wish to apply, you need to be fluent in English and the language you are translating from.
» Must be able to submit one translated script every 1-2 weeks.
    CLEANER
A cleaner needs to be able to clean out all foreign text including dialogue, thoughts, and SFX (difficult or time-consuming ones can be left alone). He/She needs to rotate, crop, level and edit the scans, and make them look clean and nice for the typesetter to place text onto. A cleaner needs to have Photoshop or any other photo editing program that can open .psd files (Photoshop preferred). Files need to be saved in .psd format and posted in the Files section of our forum.
» Must be able to submit one cleaned chapter every 2 weeks.
    TYPESETTER
A typesetter needs to typeset the scans. He/She should be able to place the text into the corresponding speech bubbles or thought bubbles, etc. A typesetter needs to have Photoshop or any other photo editing program that can open .psd files (Photoshop preferred). Files need to be saved in .psd format and posted in the Files section of our forum.
» Must be able to submit one typeset chapter every 2 weeks.
    PROOFREADER
A proofreader reads over the script to see if there are any errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, or placement/description of text (where which sentences go in which bubbles, thoughts, etc.). He/She makes sure that every sentence makes sense before handing it to the typesetter. A proofreader has to be fluent in English and spot all errors (things like 'she went to the the shop'). He/She also has to spot any missing translations. So for this, it would be good if you had knowledge of the language of the original raws (i.e. Chinese, Japanese or Korean), although it is not compulsory. Knowledge of the story and characters of the manga would also be preferred although not compulsory.
» Must be able to submit one proofread script every week.
    QUALITY CHECKER
A quality checker checks the scans for any errors in editing, translations or typesetting. He/She makes sure the scans are all good to go before the release. A QC should know basic editing and typesetting, and have experience in Photoshop or any other photo editing program. Completed files are to be saved in PNG-8 format and sent to an administrator.
» Must be able to submit one finalized chapter every 1-2 weeks.
» Experience and knowledge about other positions.
    GRAPHIC DESIGNER
A graphic designer colors pages, creates credit pages, and designs banners/logos for the group.
    SCANNER/RAW PROVIDER
A scanner has access to the original manga, usually in tankoubon format. He/She scans the chapters and sends them to the team to work on. This job is extremely important because if there are no scans/raws, there will be no scanlations. A raw provider's job is essentially the same thing, except that he/she doesn't have access to tankoubons. His/Her job is to have access to online raws on the Internet. He/She gathers the raws and sends them to the rest of the team to work on. Scanners/raw providers need to group all the scans/raws in folders for each chapter and post them in the Files section of the forum.
» Must submit links to raws regularly.
If you're interested, please register at our forum and fill up the form below.

Thanks ^^~
